Guest shutdown when ups initiates

Hello,

I'm wondering what the best practice is for shutting down guest vm's when you have an HA enabled cluster?   We have a VMa guest on each host that we use for shuting down the host server when there is a power outage which has worked well.

Now when I enabled HA, it disabled the startup shutdown for each of my hosts.  I understand that HA now takes over startup and shutdown when a host fails and hence the need to disabled the host startup/shutdown options, but when VMa shuts down the hosts in a power outage will my guests still shutdown gracefully?

Thanks,

Dan.

No, your UPS should initiate the guest shutdown as well. This is typically done through a script.

I have already filed a feature request for this by the way, but cannot make any promises around when or even if this functionality will be added to HA.

So this script is something I need to apply or is it built into the VMa Guest?

This is what we use to shutdown the hosts when the UPS is ready.
