When trying to get the SQL application client installed we are seeing the following error message on the Windows side. "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run..."
I found in the admin guide that the requirements for this installation are as follows, I am thinking that maybe one of the SQL Server Installation Components aren't installed...but does anyone know the specific components it is looking for? I don't want to just go back and install all the components from the install DVD if possible, because we aren't using all of them.
The following software must be installed on the SQL Server:
- .NET 4.0
- SQL Server Installation Component
- Client Tools SDK
