VCB Error: Could not read unmount information - VMware Technology Network VMTN

Hi,

I want to backup through VCB, but found there are several minor errors and a major error. The log shows that error, could not read unmount information.

Are there anyone can give some help?

This error comes when in the backup destination the file called umount.dat is missing.

The file backup you attempted, is it successful?

The backup failed. How to restore the file of umount.dat?

In fact, when they tried to backup another time, the error message changed to " Snapshot creation failed: Operation failed since another task is in progress."

umount.dat gets created when the backup snapsot gets created with the snapshot details. So when the backup failed can you please check if this file exists on the backup destination?

Also, form the VI client, do you see any snapshot lying on this VM ?

backup destination? where? you mean the tape library?

There is no any snapshot lying on this VM.

vcbmounter would have a parameter specified for -r, that is the backup destination from where the data would go first.
