I'm in the process of testing VDR for my plant locations which have IBM BladeCenters installed, running ESXi 4.1. Currently, they're using Symantec Backup Excec to backup the VMs which is done over the network. We have archive requirements and this is the part that I'm trying to determine if VDR will work? I understand you can create restore points and can restore individual files from these restore points (FLR), but if I was to send these backups to tape, would they be of any use at a later time??
