Hi All,
I am looking to obtain a VCP certification and I would like some clarification on the my learning path.
I do not hold any previous VMWare certifications.
Do I need to sit a foundation exam?
Do I need to attend a 5 day workshop or can I get the material on demand?
The company I work for is a partner so can I get access to on demand content?
Failing that, Has anyone used sites like Udemy, CBT, linked learning etc
Thanks,
Steven
Hi Steven,
Professional VMware vSphere 7.x retiring soon on Jan 31,2024
Certification path if you hold no VCP Certifications
1. (Recommended) Gain experience with vSphere 7.x or vSphere 8.x
2. (Required) Attend ONE of the required training courses
Courses used by VMware to develop these exams and strongly
recommended to you for exam preparation:
VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V8]
VMware vSphere: Operate, Scale and Secure [V8]
VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V7
3. (Required) Review and study the topics and objectives listed in the
Exam Guide (2V0-21.23) OR Exam Guide (2V0-21.20) and pass ONE
of the qualifying exams
follow

The fact that you work for a company that holds the partner level is a significant advantage for you, and you will save money.

In my opinion, the best way is to use VMware Digital Learning (On-demand courses) with VMware Hands-on Labs for learning.

Hi,
If you have prior knowledge of virtualization, you will also need hands-on experience with vSphere and vCenter Server.
If your company provides you with the opportunity to take any of these courses, it would be helpful:
Once you have completed one of these courses, you will have met the requirements to do the exam and obtain the certification.
All the information and requirementes can be obtained here: https://www.vmware.com/learning/certification/vcp-dcv.html
kind regards.
