Hi,
I am trying to virtualise one of the physical box running Windows2003 with SP1. But it is getting failed with an error, "Failed to open file". I could see the below in VC status bar: Import machine... creating the virtual machine on ESX server status bar coming to 2%,and later it is destoying with an error Failed to open.
I have copied the log content for more clarity.

SSLVerifyCertAgainstSystemStore: Subject mismatch: VMware vs uk-basa-vc001.cit.nuk.local
SSLVerifyCertAgainstSystemStore: The remote host certificate has these problems:
* The host name used for the connection does not match the subject name on the host certificate
* A certificate in the host's chain is based on an untrusted root.
SSLVerifyCertAgainstSystemStore: Certificate verification is disabled, so connection will proceed despite the error

Please ensure you have the following:
Proper short host name + FQDN resolution between 192.168.1.21 & uk-basa-vc001 & uk-xxxx-esx002
Also, please ensure that the proper ports are opened:
Converter application (uk-basa-vc001 + system with VIC installed) to ESX Server 3.x (uk-xxxx-esx002) - 443
Physical machine (192.168.1.21) to VirtualCenter Server (uk-basa-vc001) - 443
Physical machine (192.168.1.21) to ESX Server 3.x (uk-xxxx-esx002) - 443 and 902
If you are using Converter 3.0.x, make sure you do not have a web server using port 443 while running Converter
That should at least get your further

It's working for me now. You pointed me to the right place. I did an DNS entry (VC server, ESX) in the Windows2003 physical box which resulted a successful conversion without any problem.
Thanks
It's good to know the conversion went through. Just make sure to mark the thread as answered and awards points appropriately.
