Does VM Converter P2V Vista professional

Hi all,

Does converter P2V vista machines? if not, is there a tool out there that will do it? I know you can use Ghost to create the vmdks and do it that way, but we dont have that in house. Any suggestions will surely be appreciated.

Thanks,

In the Converter 3 docs at - Vista is not listed as a source option.

Ghost (V9 or higher) images are supported, so you may be able to proceed in that fashion. Let me know if it works.

Good Luck!

Vista is experimentally supported with Converter 3.0.2. Full support will likely be provided in a future release.

FYI, I just tried VMWare Converter 3.0.2 with Vista Ultimate 64 bit (a hot image). The import failed repeatedly with a "vsnap does not have admin rights." message in the service log text file. I followed the instructions on various other threads to no avail, and eventually saw the following error in Vista's application event log for the VSS service: The VSS Coordinator Class is not registered. A little Googling suggests that VM Converter's 32-bit VSS requests are bouncing off of Vista's 64 bit VSS service. I'm hoping that this will get resolved soon.
