Hy I want to converter a centos 5 linux machine and I'm having an error about insufficient privileges.
I'm using Vmware converter 4.3 installed on windows server 2003 and the physical machine is a centos 5.4
The message of converter is: The user does not have root provileges on the source machine.
I checked that user is member of root and sys group, also I applied the vmware note http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=100816... (change converter-agent file and modify sudoers file), after that I restart boths servers (windows and linux), then I test the sudoers configuration and I can run any binary without password, the network connection is OK because ssh is enabled.....
If I try using the root user I haven't got any problem, but I need to do with a single user with the correct privilege.
What can be happening?
Thanks
Eduardo

See page 44 of the Converter 4.3 Users Guide at https://www.vmware.com/pdf/convsa_43_guide.pdf where it states the prerequisite "Make sure that you use the root account to convert a Linux powered-on machine".
You really need to use the root account.
At the very least, you would need to use user account which has the exact same permissions and rights as the root user.
Hello, I can bypass that step using a non root account with correct privileges but the complete process I will do next week.
To solve the error I applied the following note.
I comeback next week,
Salutes,
