ipconfig shows no adapters, static address will not stick

P2V of an HP Bl25p running W2k3 SP2.  ipconfig shows no eth adapters.  Added an E1000 and flexible, both show under network connections but neither will pick up an IP address nor allow one to be assigned.  Try to assign static IP, able to enter addresses, mask, other properties.  Asks for a reboot to apply settings.  Reboot, comes up with no address assigned. Ended up attaching the data disk to a new VM, but this is the second time we've seen this.  Tried netsh to reset winsock and IP.  No help.  Also tried removing and re-adding adapters to the VM.  No adaptors show as hidden after cleanup so it's not a conflict.

Anyone else have a clue?

Thanks!

Did you remove all the HP tools from the converted VM. These may cause issues with the network configuration, especially when NIC teaming was used before.

I used the PSP Cleaner v 1.2.  What's interesting is that the HP network try icon still runs, and so does the hp network utility.  We have other p2vs with this still in place, but they give no problems.  I'll uninstall it from the network properties and see what happens.

If "HP Network Configuration Utility" is listed in the items of the LAN connection you can try to select it and then click the Uninstall button.
