Hi all:
I'm running ESXi 5.5 to manage a testing platform.
I'm facing an important issue where my datastore storing all my virtual machines is not available anymore. It looks that I always get I/O error.
Even if I run the "rescan function", I don't see my datastore.
Disk is properly seen when I run "esxcfg-scsidevs -l"

Any help would be very good to me as I need to back-up data ...
Thanks
Most probably storage device is available but not added as datastore.
From VI client, plz try adding new storage i.e adding new datstore. If it is listing in that UI workflow, it is mean that device is there but was not added as datastore.
If still no joy, your SAN admin can help you out on this.
Thanks for the recommendation.
However if I want to create a new datastore, wizard indicates that it will "format" the disk and I will loose everything.
I checked the logs and found below error messages
" Failed to initialize VMFS distributed locking on volume"
Found a KB for similar problem can you check the solution mentioned in the KB VMware KB: ESXi 5.0 hosts fail to mount VMFS5 volumes that are formatted with ATS-only capabilities
