ESXi 5.5 ping to gateway or IP assigned through DHCP isn't working

Hi

I am installing ESX5.5 on an HP Proliant DL380p on a flash drive and the installation completes successfully.

unable to ping the gateway or IP assigned through DHCP isn't working. From the document, I understand that switch ports are configured in VLAN 1, but I am not sure about other parameters of how switches are configured.

I haven't tried changing the switch ports or tried changing the NIC card connections. Does anyone have an idea about the issue I am facing?
