Forgot root ESXi4 password

I have installed ESXi 4 on an IBM X3650 M2 box directly without any host OS. When I moved the box to the data centre, I changed the password and re-logged in successfully! However, when I tried to login remotely through my VMware Vsphere client, it gave me the follwing error

" Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password". I have tried so many password combinations that now I have forgotton the original password!

How does one change the root password? Or

Are there some advanced settings for remote login to the server which I may not have set?

Please help.

Thanks in advance

The only way to recovery from a forgotten ESXi root password is to reload ESXi on the server.
