HPE ESXI08 GUI is down

Hi guys,

We're facing an issue with one vSphere server. Recently, the server's GUI has been unresponsive.

I've tried pinging the server using both its FQDN and its IP, and they respond, but the web GUI remains inaccessible.

The VMs are online, and we can connect to them without any problems.

Do you have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this issue?

The ESXi version is 8.0.1, and it's running on an HPE Gen 10 server.

after rebooting the host the gui works for 10 and it’s stops.

Ok first things first, can you login via SSH? If not can you access the Host's DCUI via the iLO, from there you can access the esxi shell (via Alt + F1) to aid troubleshooting.

Once you've got into the console, i would run df -h to check free disk space, its possible one of the partitions has run out of, or is low on space, which might be causing the problem to appear intermittent.

Also, check hostd log at /var/log/hostd.log. There may be a clue there as to what's happening!

Check the log file if any specific error is there and also check the status of hostd process:

/etc/init.d/hostd status

See if restarting hostd solves this:

/etc/init.d/hostd restart
