MAI KEYLOK II and ESXi 4.1 for Linux-based guest OS

Hi,

did someone manage to connect MAI KEYLOK II (07f2:0001) to ESXi 4.1?

It worked like a charm with FreeBSD guest OS. However, it never worked for me with Linux.

I've tried Fedora, Ubuntu and RedHat Enterprise. When dongle is getting attached to the guest OS, device doesn't work properly.

Here is the error message:

usb 2-2: Can't set config #1, error -110

In case if some application tries to do something with the device, application hangs.

Your experience is appreciated.

Well, it's not related. At least because if I remove the device from Linux and put to FreeBSD, it works just fine.

It's not "stalled USB hub" issue. Dongle is detected by OS, lsusb shows the device. However, it doesn't work as needed.

If the dongle is detected then it could come down to configuration. If you have a physical Linux server I would set it up and confirm that the issue is related to virtualization and not configuration. Since it is a supported device for passthrough I would try VMware support if it turns out to be a virtualization problem.
