Manually uninstalling vpxa agent

I'm having issues adding one of three ESXi 4.0 host to my Virtual Center Console. I'm getting at timeout error. I followed the steps in KB1003714 and it still doesn't work. It looks like although I'm running /opt/vmware/uninstallers/VMware-vpxa-uninstall.sh it's not really uninstalling the agent. I ran the command and it doesn't look like anything happens.

I ran cat /etc/shadow and the vpxuser is still there, so I ran userdel vpxuser.

I ran cat `ls -t /var/log/vmware/vpx/vpxa*` | head -1 and it returns "Log for VMware VirtualCenter Agent......."

I ran services.sh restart and tried to connect to the VC. It creates the vpxuser again, but then sits there for 1200 seconds and then times out.

Since it doesn't look like the uninstall script is uninstall vpxa, does anyone know how to manually remove the agent?

Thanks,
Ernie

Thanks for the reply. This KB had the same steps for running the .sh command and deleting the vpxuser just in a different order. I gave it a try anyway and still no luck. Looks like I'll open an incident with tech support tomorrow.

Yeah, resolved it today. I found the following entry in the vpx-iupgrade.log. "lockfile: Sorry, giving up on "/tmp/bootbank.lck"" I renamed the bootbank.lck to bootbank.old and now was able to add this host to my 4.1 VC.

Thanks for all the help. Saved me a call  to support, where they ask for logs and then I wait and wait.......
