I'm just wondering what is currently the best way to check a vsphere 5 cluster for orphaned vmdk files, I've got a couple of orphans that I'm pretty sure are not used anywhere but I would like a script or someway of checking all the vmx's to make sure (got some memory of a vm template issue back in 3.5 that caused all manner of fun and games).
I notice that there is a find -iname "*-flat.vmdk" -mtime +7 which cmdlet which seems to work still in the esxi console but produces some odd output for me so I'm not sure I should use it. Theres also an extensive powershell script that was doing the rounds but appears to be written for 3.5.
Is there a better way within vSphere5?
