Run Copied VM

Hello,

I have to make DR test in my company and I have to restore few machines and run them.

My plan is:

1.Shutdown working machine, fo example: machine1

2.Restore copy of this VM to datastore

3.Register VM with adding test to the orginal name  for example: machine1-test

4.Run this VM and make a tests

5.Shutdown and remove a test VM

6.Run orginal Vm

Question

Based on test plan what should I choose when I will run test VM??

I copied or I moved this VM 🙂

Thanks

Hi,

Read this KB for more information:

Changing or keeping a UUID for a moved virtual machine (1541) (vmware.com)

And, choose "I Moved".

Since you did not mention vSphere Replication and SRM - I can only assume that your environment is not so big or you are not interested in such solutions
