SAN Upgrade recommendations VMWare 6 Standard Licensing

Not sure on the correct forum for this. Looking for recommendations on our SAN infrastructure.

We are upgrading from 2 standalone Infortrend units running 4x1GB iScsi and incredibly slow Smiley Happy

We have found the following possible choices based on a budget of approx. £30k/$38k (ignoring switching)

HP StoreVirtual Software + hardware(recommendations welcome)
or 2 x HP StoreVirtual 3200 with 1.2GB of flash and rest 10k SAS
or 2 x HP StoreVirtual 4335 + 1  x 4530
I also see vSAN but don't know much about it.

We need synchronous replication and ideally both "nodes" active/load balancing. We need to achieve about 15TB usable. Also needs to be 10gbe SFP+ and not FC. We currently have ESXi 6 Standard licensing for 4 hosts

With the software based solutions are the host/storage/san one server? or is the storage/san part still split off(or can it be both?)?

Are the above solutions good? or is there something better out there for the budget

Any thoughts welcome or recommendations on where to post

Thanks

Robbie

One SAN can be shared to many ESXi hosts to serve up storage.

VSAN is a VMware product licensed separately. VSAN takes the existing UNUSED disks on your ESXi host and allows them to be pooled together to be used as shared storage. There are some requirements to VSAN such as 3 hosts at a minimum must provide both SSD and non SSD disks to the VSAN. VSAN is a software defined storage solution.
