Slow Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 network performance

Hello,

We've recently migrated a couple of Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 servers from VSphere 4.1 to ESXi 5.1. We've upgraded the virtual hardware to the newest version, upgraded VMware Tools to the newest version and changed the Network Adapter to VMXNET3.

Now we have a poor network performance when we copy files from one 2K3 server to another. We have a 1GB network and we can not get past a 16MB/s limit. When we do the same thing with fresh installed Windows Server 2012 machines we get aboiut 60MB/s.

Has anyone get any recommendations of settings to set to get the old performance back?

Thanks,

Christiaan

Hi,

could you set these parameters and see if it´s better?

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters Value(DWORD): DisableTaskOffload = 1

Ok,

bad. These are all migrated vm right? Are you able to test a fresh install of a server 2003 SP2 with all MS Updates?
