Strange network behavior in guests after power failure

Hello,

Last week we had a major power failure that took our 5 blades (with ESXi 3.5) down. Since then networking behave strangely in one of our blade : when we boot the VMs, sometime the network works, sometimes it doesn't. The guests always show networking interface as if it's connected, but there is absolutely NO traffic. It works again after one or more reboot.

One of our Windows guests is set to reboot automatically each night, and before the power failure we never had any problem.

We tried to change the network adapter of one of your VM (vmxnet, e1000, vlance), but the problem occurs with each of them.

In the /var/log/message file of the ESXi server, there are lots of lines like that :

Sep 1 17:35:03 Hostd: 2009-09-01 17:35:03.239 'VmMisc' 229389 warning Failed to validate VM IP address:

Any idea ?

Thanks !

you may try restarting your management network. Was the ESXi Host rebooted when you had the power interruption?

Yes the ESXi server was rebooted 2 days ago. But I just figured out that since yesterday there are no more warnings (Failed to validate VM IP address) in our log, it's a good sign...

Unfortunately the warning messages came back and the problem still occurs...
