Does anyone ever succeedin exporting the ESXi profile into VMA appliance after updating it into ESXi 4.0 update 1 ?
I'm having problem even with the root user ? I used to be able to exports the settings while it was on ESXi4.0 before Update 1

Are you trying a backup or a restore?
For backup you must use -s

Even though vMA did not get an update when vSphere 4.0u1 came out, the vCLI did get U1 release ... perhaps something has changed and you'll need to install the latest version of vCLI 4.0u1.
