Good morning,
I have one server with over 2 CPU with vmware esx free, I bought the license vmware 6 essential.
I went into the console to update the license visualize the warning attached that worries me.
What does it mean?
It did not activate features in version 6 but everything works properly?
Thanks in advance aid

hi Angel
With the free esxi version you can only use up to 32gb of memory.
with your new license this limit is removed. but esxi thinks this is a feature that was removed^^
So I proceed safely?
yes buddy
do you have allready updated the esxi host to 6?
you can not install an esxi 6.x license in a esxi 5.x host...
I think you are trying to enter the version 6 essentials key on a version 5.x host. That won't work. You have to either downgrade the key in myVMWARE on the webpage or upgrade the host to version 6 first.
Thx for help,
No I have not updated the esxi! i think is not necessary. How do I go to upgrade?
Run a upgrade installation booting from a ESXi 6 installation CD (probably you should use a OEM customized version of your server vendor).
The version 6 license key does definitely not work with a version 5 host. Your screenshots above clearly show a version 5 host.
Upgrading (or downgrading) the license does not mean you are switching the host to that version, this needs to be installed first.
yes it is necesarry!
the easiest way with the vCenter is to use the Update Manager....
you can read the different methodes here:
VMware KB: Methods for upgrading to ESXi 5.5
Thank you, you told me that possibly not to upgrade, you can ask the downgrade of the license for not having to update the esx5. Right?
yes you can downgrade the license on your vmware portal....
For license downgrade see: VMware vSphere 6 Pricing and Licensing | United States
