vCenter Update Manager
vCenter Update Manager
Need some classification : Can we have both vCenter server Appliance and vCenter Server in the same environment ?
Any benefit of using vCSA apart from vCenter Server...
Functionality wise they are the same. Only difference being the vCSA is a linux based appliance whereas the Windows vCenter Server is installed in a Windows machine. With vSphere 5.5, vCSA can support up to 100 ESXi hosts and 3000VMs
A couple of limitation of vCSA compared to a Windows based vCenter are:
- No support for Linked Mode
- No IPV6 support
- Cannot use SQL Server as external database. You can use the built-in vPostrgess DB or Oracle as an external DB
- Update Manager cannot be installed on vCSA
Fine..
Can we have both vCenter Server Appliance and vCenter Server in the same environment ?
2. How can we connect vCSA, as like vCenter Server through vSphere Client ?
Why would you need both vCSA and Windows vCenter Server at the same time? If they are managing different ESXi hosts then its ok since the ESXi hosts can only be managed by one vCenter Server.
For vCSA you can connect using the same methods, Windows vSphere Client or using Web Client.
Thanks Rommel ..
Could you recommend any tool to monitor the Capacity utilization of a hosts and VMs ..like CPU,Memory resource util.
And what parameters to check on it .
what about TOP and ESXTOP regarding this ?
