a host selectiopn

Maybe this is a dummy question :

I tried to migrated linux VM from one stand alone host to a clustered host. It is telling me there is no space on one of iscsi drive --4.7 GB left

Is it supposed to be automatically select available drive for me since it is in a cluster with HA and DRS enabled?

Hi ,

To Explain it better, when you to do a vMotion of the VM it does not move the vmdk's or hard disks - it Just copies the memory contents to the new host and does not take the storage space into account.

unless the VM has any snapshots.

And when you do a Storage vMotion, it changes the location of the vmdk from one data store to another and it would ask you for the location of the new data store.

HA and DRS does not automatically select the available drives.

HA - restarts the VM on a different host when there is a Host failure

DRS - Uses the vMotion to manage the resources only memory and CPU - does not take storage space into count. Storage DRS takes care of that.

Are you just using the vMotion or the storage vMotion.?
