cloning and snapshots

i'm relatively new to VMware ESX and i guess this is a simple question for some of you guys to answer.

i have a guest machine, windows 2008, with several snapshots, i wanted to clone the machine and keep the snapshots on the clone as the original machine. is this possible at all?

thanks in advance

It is not possible via standard "Clone" operation, but you can power VM off, copy VM files with Veeam FastSCP, and "Add to inventory" new VM.

i guess i did something similar.

1. logged onto the ESX console

2.copied the folder containing the VM i was interested in.

3. added to the inventory.

thanks for the answer

I think I just figured that out, I actually logged onto the console of the ESX server and copied the guest folder on the datastore. That seems to have done what I needed.

Thanks for the answer.

Yes, it's completely the same thing, just another way.
