how to switch to Paravirtual SCSI

Hi,

We have 1000+ VMs with LSI scsi controller for the OS disk. Has anyone been able to switch to Paravirtual with some type of automation?

It's our understanding that paravirtual drivers need to be installed in the OS before LSI controller can be changed.

If doing this manually, we typically add a second scsi controller and set it to paravirtual then add another disk and map it to the new controller. Log in to the OS to configure the new disk and shutdown the vm. At this point we can switch LSI controller to paravirtual and power up the VM. Once VM is booted, we are able to delete the second scsi controller and the disk attached to it. Also, if VM had more than one disk, we also have to online non OS disks under disk management.

We are only looking to get our windows environment switched to paravirtual, linux vms are already on paravirtual.

What is the most efficient way to get a large number of VMs switched to paravirtual?

Thanks
