Der Controller LSI SAS9207-8e-HP 6 Gb/s PCIe x8 SAS ist in einer HP DL380 G8 eingebaut und auch vom Bios erkannt. Im ESX Host 7.0 U3 habe ich die Karte als Passthru aktiviert (AVAGO(LSI Logic) HP H221 Host BUs Adapter) und den Host neu gestartet.

In der VM kann ich jetzt die Karte als HP H221 Host Bus Adapter an die virtuelle Maschine binden.
Der Start versagt jedoch mit der oben genannten Fehlermeldung.
Gleiches Verhalten mit einer DELL  SAS9212-4.
Ich bin mit meinem Latein am Ende und bitte um Hilfe, da ich die Tapelibrary nicht anbinden kann

Is this a new setup you are trying to do or something that was existing that has broken that you cannot get working again? Is this some type of nested setup? In addition, unless I am missing something, this HBA is not on the hardware compatibility list. Neither is the Dell one you mention.

Looks like 6.7U3 was the last version it was compatible with.

It was a update from ESX 6 to 7. Your comment then makes sense

Dos anybody knows an compatible alternative for HP DL380 G8 and a LSI SAS9207-8e-HP 6 Gb/s PCIe x8 SAS Controller H3-25280-02B 738191-001  (AVAGO(LSI Logic) HP H221 Host BUs Adapter) withe external connectors?

So I uses the compatibility matrix to try to find you a suitable replacement. Here is the search link I used for your version:

Most of what comes up are RAID controllers, but this Lenovo one may be a workable replacement:

SAS9300-8E LSI 9300-8E 8-Port 12Gbps SATA/SAS

Also, just so you know, the HPE Proliant Gen8 is not on the compatibility list. Only Gen9 and higher.

Fund also 9300 8e just form different supplier and ordered on the bay. I will give a feedback next week after installation 😊
