Hello,
anyone can answer if it is possible to enable fault tolerance on VM linked clone to a master via composer.
Customer asks to protect in this way hundred of virtual desktop, i've thinked to use a ten gigabit channel for FT logging communication, what dou u think about?
Many Thanks
First off it is only recommended to have 4 FT running per host, so you'd need 25 hosts to do 100 VMs.
Second, I'm pretty sure this is not supported with View.
Third, also pretty sure FT requires full VMs, not linked clones, so your SAN cost is going to sky rocket.
Fourth, and this is my favorite, chances are exteremly high that Windows is going to crash before your host crashes (ESX crashes). FT will not even help in this situation as if OS1 crashes the OS on the other server will crash at the same time.
FT is designed for mission critical Server VMs, not VDI.

I'm with Gunnar on this. I've never seen it listed but I would be very surprised if FTwas supported with View linked clones. I could see it being supported with full clones if the operating systems were supported but even then would it be practical.
