Hi,
New VMWare Horizon Client user as my employer starts decommissioning legacy VDI desktops and replacing them with Cloud Desktops. I tried installing VM Horizon Client 4.9 and 4.10 on my laptop to access from home, but both installations failed at the end with an "Install Failed" message.
I have tried multiple alternate approaches and all end the same way. Attached the installation logs from all my attempts.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Hopeful bump for someone to help out here.
If you look in the log files, you'll see the following entry:
MSI (s) (58:7C) [22:38:31:506]: Product: VMware Horizon Client -- Error 1904. Module C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Horizon View Client\vmwHorizonClientController.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147024770. Contact your support personnel.
Looking up that error, you'll find that there are other posts on these forums for this issue:
Windows 7 VMWare Horizon Client 4.9 Install Failed
The solution for some appears to be installing the VC++ 2017 redistributable package, which is a prerequisite. Also make sure at least .NET 4.7 is installed. If all else fails, unchecking HTML5 redirection as a client feature appears to work around whatever dependency is missing from your system, although you'll obviously no longer be able to use that feature. Lastly, I'd recommend installing the latest version of the Horizon client, 5.0.
Tried all 3. Still failing. Do the logs indicate any firewall or AntiVirus to be disabled?
That's always a good troubleshooting step to take, as that could interfere with DLLs being registered on your system. It also doesn't hurt to run the system filechecker tool by running "sfc /scannow" in an elevated command prompt window.
