Intermittent USB device disconnects

We have an issue with some hpe T630 clients and Windows 10 VMs which have intermittent connectivity issues with USB scanners. The vSphere 6 environment includes Horizon 7 with ESXi 6.5U3. Each Windows 10 VM runs the updated VMWare Tools and Horizon 7 Agent software. Removing USB settings on the Thin Client seemed to have resolved the issue; only not.

Disconnecting/reconnecting the scanner (USB Device) from the Thin Client resolves the isssue temporarily; until the user logs off and logs back on. Some users have not experienced the issue.

I am at my wit's end. Where can I begin to trace the issue?

At on of our customers we ran into a simular issue. After investigating the logs we found that if the user logon took more than 60 seconds the USB redirection was not working. With logon times less than 60 seconds everything was working fine. Disconnecting/connecting the USB device resolved the issue.

After setting this reg key our problem was solved. The 60 second timeout is increased to 200 (max)

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware VDM\USB]

"WaitForSessionIdTimeout"=dword:000000c8
