Find Gaps in VMWARE vSphere Infrastructure

Hi Guys,

I have very common question, I want to find out gaps (like configuration, HA, DRS, Storage, Networking, Security) in existing VMWARE vSphere (3.5 & 4.1)Infrastrucure, can anybody please suggest, how shall I proceed?

The best practices doc is a good start:  http://www.vmware.com/pdf/Perf_Best_Practices_vSphere5.0.pdf

You can also do a search for some scripts people have run to automate some of the data gathering and reporting tasks.

Here's one from lamw:  http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-9842

There are others, a quick search should turn up a few easy to run.

Hello,

If you have Enterprise+ you can use Host Profiles. You can also use VMware Configuration Manager (vCM). If neither of these, you can try WIlliam Lam's Perl SDK script.
