How to protect VM with ISOs mapped

I am struggling to figure out how to protect a VM that has an ISO mapped to the CD/DVD drive of a VM.

I have put all of my ISOs on their own datastore, and can't seem to get SRM to protect the VM unless there is no media connected to the CD/DVD drive.

I hope that there is just something that I am not configuring properly somewhere.

Hi,

Just run the "Configure Protection" wizard for your VM.  One of the steps, "storage options" or something like that, allows you  select CDROM and mark it as detached. This allows you to  protect VM that have mapped ISO on non-replicated datastore.
