SRM and Customize IP

We have strange issue with SRM 5.1.1. When test recovery plan is executed.

All steps works fine but Customize IP hangs at 0 % and after 10 min it times out with error "Timed out waiting for Customization scripts to complete in 600 seconds".

When we checked logs on guest VM (server 2012) Customization scripts ran successfully and IP was applied on Guest OS.

But NIC card is not connected.

Cleaned up recovery plan.

So we ran test plan again but this time when recovery plan was bringing up VM, we checked to box for NIC card in VM setting 1)Connected and other 2)Connect at power on.

Test recovery worked like charm.

No sure why test recovery plan does not connect NIC card to VM when running test recovery plan ?

Do you have enough free ports on VDS portgroup / vSwitch?

Check the events tab of the VM, Can you see anything suspicious?

Vswitch has more than 100 ports available. Not errors found on events tab of the VM.

If I remove Customize IP settings then VM with boot up with NIC card connected.

Probably this is known issue / bug.

Consider opening SR, as this should not happen.

It's most likely because VMware Tools is trying to only communicate back to the host through the NIC settings. When it times out the recovery step there it is because it is waiting for Tools to register the VM with the ESX server and then the ESX server to notify vCenter Server which in turn returns the status to SRM.
