VUM rolls back versions!

I have downloaded the latest ESXi 5.5 DELL ISO to install on our systems.  This shows as version 1746974.  When applying through VUM to a host that is already running ESXi 5.5 the version shows as 1746018 after the upgrade.  To test the image was ok I built one of the servers from scratch and it showed as 1746947 in vCentre, however VUM showed there were patches to apply.  After I had patched the server it had reverted to 1746018 again.  Which version should I be seeing?  Surely it should be the higher of the 2?

I've noted the same behavior. Is there something quirky with the latest custom Dell ISO? Or is there some sort of logic problem when applying the latest set of updates when using Update Manager?

Hi,

I see the below KB article states that build 1746974 (ESXi550-201404020) should not be updated to 5.5 Update 1 and should be patched with build - 1746018 (ESXi550-201404001) which will offer bug fixes provided with ESXi 5.5 Update 1.

I understand that when we update the host or vCenter the resulting build number should be higher than what it was before but I don't have a clear answer as of now.
