I just sat in and passed the VCA by a very narrow margin, I must say it was a little more difficult than I had expected. While I'm a VCP and I consider myself rather well versed in View 4.6 I think I walked into it a little arrogant. The mock questions on the site seemed a little too easy so it gave me a little false sense.
I would have to say (just like the VCP) the majority of the questions aren't conceptually hard but it just requires a strong photographic memory of menu options (which is great as it does test your actual experience). I work on a classified network so the local mode/transfer stuff doesn't really apply to me and they hammered those ones fairly well. Also don't sleep on thinapp questions or error codes/status states.
So even though I aced the VCP4-DT mocks on the first try I will not walk into that exam with the same attitude.
Thread has been moved to VCA-DT area.
And thanks for sharing your experience... and of course congratulations for the pass!

I just received my confirmation email from VMware and it says my number is "VCADT-119". Are these numbers randomized or sequential? I have a hard time believing there were only 118 passes worldwide before me; but if so, then that just made my day.
Time for the VCP-DT!
ID are sequential.
And yes... seems that "few" people as reach this kind of certifications.

Congrats on Passing!!
I just got my authorization to register for the VCP4-DT, $225? really? Is this with the $50 pre-september 1st promotion?
I've paid in Euro, but also for me the price sound strange (see: http://communities.vmware.com/people/AndreTheGiant/blog/2011/06/07/my-thoughts-on-vcp-dt-certificati...).
But I cannot find any info about the exam price... seems that it will cost (without the discont) MORE than the VCP4 exam.

My little shopping cart on the PearsonVUE site is definitely reading 225 USD, I'm trying to see if that $50 rumor was perhaps a promotion code to enter in or something of the likes. Also I noticed that the testing site selection is limited, which I don't understand as it is the standard multiple choice test.
Having to drive 50 miles to take this will delay me from taking it indefinitely.
