How do I copy templates on VMFS2 lun onto a VMFS3 lun?

We have a bunch of ESX 2.54 servers managed by VC1 running virtual machines and templates on VMFS2 luns.

We have installed VC2 and two new ESX3 servers which currently have access to two VMFS3 luns.

What would the be the best way to import/copy as well as upgrade the VM's and templates into the new environment?

Refer installation guide, regarding step by step upgrade procedures.

Virtual Machine File System Format: VMFS2 to VMFS3-on page 111

on my last project, i open a putty connection to VI3, make a clone (vmkfstools -i........) from the template on vmfs2 to vmfs 3 and thand register this one with vmware-cmd-s register....., and than on vcenter 2 convert hardware .....

it was best way, because i wirked all the time with a copy of the VMs and templates, so when if something wrong happends so i was able to take original again.

What would the be the best way to import/copy as well

as upgrade the VM's and templates into the new

environment?
