Blocksize an VMFS

is any advantages or disadvantage to use smaler or greater Blocksize on a VMFS.

The main factor is the size of the VMDK file that you'll be able to create. With 1 MB, the max VMDK is 256 GB, 2MB = 512 GB, 4MB = 1024 GB and 8 GB = 2048 GB. Once you have formatted a partition, you can't change it so your only recourse will be to reformat the partition.
