How To: limit the number of running tasks?

Hi,

Is there a way to limit the number of running tasks on a ESX server?

Thanks.

No way of doing this directly from an ESX server. ESX will do this directly, by starting tasks and queuing the rest, if you've started several at once, but no way I know of to specify a value for this.

Can you control the queuing ?

For example set the active tasks to 5 active tasks and queue all the rest?

Thanks.

Nope. You can control how many tasks you kick off manually, but that's about it. That doesn't help when you put something in maintenance mode, and I don't know the exact algorithm used. Sometimes I've seen 5 concurrent tasks running, sometimes up to 10.
