Hi,
Is it just me or is this document creating a lot of confusion?
http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/resources/996
On Page 12 :
VMware VMotion, VMware DRS, and VMware HA are all supported in both RDM physical and virtual compatibility modes.
I always thought Vmotion is not possible if a VM has an RDM in physical compatibility mode. A Vmotion however is possible on VM's with RDM's in virtual compatibility mode.
On page 15 :
Table : Summary of MSCS Shared Storage
Clustering across boxes possible with Non-passthrough RDM's (virtual compatibility mode)
I always thought that you should configure Passthrough RDM's (Physical compatibility mode) for that ?
On Page 16 :
Suggestions for Disk Spanning
Shutdown all VM's residing on a VMFS that you want to extend ...
I always have extended my datastores online, without any issues, isnt this scaring people, so they introduce more downtime then necessary?
Kind regards,
Koen
