HI,
We will have a "SAN Health Check" from Dell, meaning they will upgrade firmware on the san, hosts and fibre switches, we have redundant setup, but its recommended to stop or minimize IO activity to the san during this process.
We are thinking about suspending the machines(mostly Linux) to make them come up faster.. what is the real difference between suspend and power off.
Is it wise to suspend a database server for example?
Greetings,
lars
Personally, if it is anything important I never use the suspend option, if I need it down regardless I take it all the way down just to make sure everything is clean and there is no chance for corruption. Whats a couple extra minutes of bringing them back up?
