Proc Failure - What happens?

Greetings!

I searched the forums and could not find a specific answer to this question:

What happens on ESX 3.5 when a physical proc fails in a dual proc server that is running VMs?

Would this result in a PSOD? Would the server continue to operate? I would imagine the VMs on those cores would crash.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

do you meant the physical processor failure? if yes, your server will be hang up and should not able to be start up until you replace the processors. In that case, I believe all the vms on the esx will be fail and it should failover to the HA cluster if you had HA enable Smiley Happy

Yes, physical processor failure in the ESX host itself. I would expect a PSOD or lockup. Thanks for the reply.

I would imagine you would get some sort of warning / PSOD. If this was the case HA should kick in and you would work on your server.
