Scanning Virtual Machine for Update Fails.

Hi..

With ESX3.5 Update 1 sucessfully installed and runing fine, I was able to install Update Manager Plug-in without any problems.

I can scan the HOST without any trouble but when I can virtual client I get an error.

"There are errors during the scan operation"

It take off really slow to goto 55% and jumps to 100% fast.

Anyone got an idea how I can scan HOST but not clients?

Thanks.

Could be a problem to automatically install the agent. You could try to install that manually, from the admin guide(😞

The Guest Agent installation packages for

Windows and Linux guests are in the location you specified when installing Update Manager server. In that

directory, Guest Agent installation packages are at \docroot\vci\guestAgent\. For example, if Update

Manager was installed in C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Update Manager, the Guest Agent

installers are at

C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Update Manager\docroot\vci\guestAgent\.

Just an idea.

The agent is a good idea. Also, I'm assuming you've verified that your baseline is attached correctly, and that client patches have been downloaded locally as well?

Hummmm.....why didn't I think of rebooting the VC.

Once I reboot the VC, Datacenters updated the signature and it works/scans fine now.

Thanks.
