Setting up a testing environment with only internet access

I am using VMWare ESX 3.5 and would like to setup a testing environment for windows patch testing.

I don't want this environment to see our production network but do want it to have access to the

internet. I was am wondering if there are actual steps on accomplishing this or some type of

documentation that could guide me in the right direction. I am new to VMWare so any direction

or comments are appreciated.

Thanks.

If you have several physical NICs, you can connect one to the physical "Internet network" and the connect to a dedicatet virtual switch, where you create a separate VM network.

You could use a rtouting based VM to do the work for you. check out this doc I wrote where Vyatta is setup to pretty much do what you want.
