checkCPUIDLimit - trying to get ESX 3.5 installed on a Dell Precision 470

I don't have any BIOS options to manipulate, and am running the last BIOS for this box (A7)

I added:

/vmkernel/checkCPUIDLimit = "FALSE"

to the top of the /etc/vmware/esx.conf

This now gets me past an early crash when booting ESX 110268. I now crash at some point after getting to runlevel 3. I get a pink screen of death - Out of Memory - tcp/ip module heapframe....

Any ideas?

I don't see that device listed on the HCL http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi35_systems_guide.pdf that MAY be related.

Can I ask why you are installing on a PC? You may have better luck installing VMware Workstation, then installing ESX on that

Looking to quickly assembly a NPIV capable box, and the spare NPIV capable HBAs we had were PCIe . I've been unable to convince ESX 3.5 on our IBM Bladecenter hardware that they are in fact connected to a NPIV capable fabric (I believe the qlogic fibre channel passthrough module is the reason why)

Update 3 works fine - still get pink text errors yelping about CPUID, but no pink screen of death
