ESXi Ubuntu 8.04 Server 64bit

Maybe someone could point me in the right direction. I havn't found out how to install ESXi on Ubuntu 8.04 server or command line at all. Can you install it on command line? I am not entirely sure how I would install something for a CD (I could mount it but what do you do other then that)

Could someone point me in the right direction?

You have it backwards. ESXi is it's own OS. You boot from the CD and it will reformat your hard drive. You can then install Ubuntu on ESXi.

Okay, then I am not exactly sure what I need to do now. I thought ESXi was a virtual machine, or so I was told it was one.

Hello,

Moved to ESXi forum.

ESXi is not a VM it is a virtualization operating system that runs on bare metal. You can install it within VMware Workstation 6.5 however as a VM.

One last question, is their a tutorial for installing it on a command line?

Sorry, I must admit I know very little about VMware and I have spend the good part of the last 3 weeks attempting to get KVM (Kernal Virtual Machine) running, but there is an error in the installation process.
