VCB - mount problem with RDM (virtual compatibility) disk

Hello All,

I have following issue during vcbMounter process. VM is W2003 server with C:\ as vmdk file and E:\ as RDM (virtual compatibility). VM mount with only C:\ is OK. Mount with C: and E: is with following error: (fsType=(Inaccessible):

Opened disk: blklst://snapshot-11180[san1] MSPHFN02/MSPHFN02.vmdk@wsph0n99.csob.int?xxxx/xxxx

Opened disk: blklst://snapshot-11180[san1] MSPHFN02/MSPHFN02_1.vmdk@wsph0n99.csob.int?xxxx/xxxx

Proceeding to analyze volumes

Done mounting

Volume 1 mounted at E:\mnt\msphfn02\digits\1 (mbSize=16370 fsType=NTFS )

Volume 2 mounted at E:\mnt\msphfn02\digits\2 (mbSize=524285 fsType=(Inaccessible) )

Volume 1 also mounted on E:\mnt\msphfn02\letters\C

Volume 2 also mounted on E:\mnt\msphfn02\letters\E

After umount from command line C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Consolidated Backup Framework>vcbMounter -h wsph0n99 -u yyyyyy -p xxxxxxx -U E:\mnt\msphfn02

I have unmount message:

Unmounted E:\mnt\msphfn02\digits\1\ (formatted)

Unmounted E:\mnt\msphfn02\digits\2\ (unformatted)

Deleted directory E:\mnt\msphfn02\digits\1\

Deleted directory E:\mnt\msphfn02\digits\2\

Deleted directory E:\mnt\msphfn02\digits\

Deleted directory E:\mnt\msphfn02\letters\C\

Deleted directory E:\mnt\msphfn02\letters\E\

Deleted directory E:\mnt\msphfn02\letters\

Disk E:\ is realy inaccessible from VCB Proxy. But maybe first 3 attempts of mount this disk was OK !!!.

Any idea for resolving this problem?

Best regards

What version of VCB are you using?

Can you take a snapshot of the vm successfully? If the snapshot fails, then VCB will fail also.

Make sure your LUN is the same ID on the vcb server as on the esx server. If you are using multipathing, try disabling it as a test, and try your mount again, but restart the mount service as well.
