simple VM deployment failed with errore related to VMware.VirtualCenter.OperatingSystem

Hi all,

i have installed vRA 7.4 and configured the connection with vCenter Server (Endpoint test connection works!).

Then i try to deploy a simple empty VM but the request failed with the messages here below.

Anyone can suggest me how to solve this?

i have attached 2 images...

Thanks

Alex

The custom property named VMware.VirtualCenter.OperatingSystem is required

Hi Alex

Its mentioned in the "Custom Property Reference" as required for the Basic VM Worfklow. But if you create a VM in vCenter you need to specify an OS (Identifier). I could imagine that they just forgot to mention it (but I havent tested it). You could easily test this and create the custom property VMware.VirtualCenter.OperatingSystem with an OS identifier value like for example windows8Server64Guest directly on the blueprint.

Greetings Philippe

More than likely, you want to be using the CloneVM workflow and not CreateVM. The clone will allow you to pick a vSphere template in inventory to use as the starting point for a new VM. Especially if you're new to vRA, this is the recommend path forward for now.
