Add VMNIC VCF for Traffic VM

Good afternoon everyone

I did the deployment of a VCF 4.5 lab, which installed without problems and the node had 2 interfaces available. Today I added two new interfaces to be able to create VDS only for virtual machines and their respective vlans.

I have not been able to find information on how to add the two new interfaces to the platform with a new VDS.

They will have information on how to execute this task of adding two new interfaces, creating a new VDS and creating the vlans in VCF.

I am doing these Laboratories because I want to do the VCF course in September and I want to know how the platform works and how to do these tasks, which I have read are very different from what I have done with vCenter.

Thanks for your help and advice.

Hi,

This is not supported. VCF has many limitations compared to plain vSphere. Please read this:

https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Cloud-Foundation/index.html

https://www.vmware.com/content/dam/digitalmarketing/vmware/en/pdf/datasheet/products/vmware-cloud-fo...

You will have to reinstall ESXi on your hosts and redeploy VCF to be able to add more vmnics and another VDS.

Thanks for your comments

The VCF as I have 4 nodes for my laboratory, I will use Management and Compute. Now if in the vcf-ems-deployment document I declare Profile-1 with only two interfaces vmnic0 and vmnic1, I can later through API create another VDS with interfaces vmnic2 and vmnic3 for VM traffic, or it is recommended to reinstall VCF with 4 interfaces where Profile3 is for Host Overlay traffic
