FYI,
I am running VMware Fusion 5.01 (825449) on Mac OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.1. A thnuclnt process was using 100% CPU, so I suspended my running VMs and quit VMware Fusion. The thnuclnt process was still running, but trying to kill it using Activity Monitor killed OSX as well! So if you run into this problem quit all running applications first and reboot normally..
