How to add a 2nd HD to a XP VM?

Ok... I've tried everything I could think of and looked over the forum, but didn't see any solutions.

I have an existing WinXPPro VM that has a single SCSI HD. I want to add another SCSI HD to the VM. So I did that in the settings and all seems to work. When I boot up the VM, I get 2 HD icons in the lower right part of the window frame, both colored blue indicating that they are active and attached. Selecting 'Settings' for the VM and then each HD shows both are "Connected".

However, Windows only sees the original one. I opened VMTools and saw nothing that would help me. I ran the Windows 'Add Hardware' widget, but it doesn't see the drive either.

Any ideas as to what might be going wrong?

When you add an additional disk in XP you need to partition/format the disk for it to be usable and or seen in Explorer.

Click Start > Run > type diskmgmt.msc then click OK or press Enter.

You should see the 2nd disk and can partition/format it from there.
